Nigeria’s First Female Chartered Accountant Dies In Church.

Nigeria lost her first female chartered accountant, Chief (Mrs) Olutoyin Olusola Olakunrin, on Sunday 2nd June 2018. She amazingly passed on after slumping during church service at the St. Paul Anglican Church, Breadfruit, Lagos.
She hailed from Gbagura, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and was married to Elder Simeon Olakunri, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
The Late Mrs Olakunrin was 80 years old and was the mother-in-law to Segun Agbaje, the Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank, who is married to Derin (née Olakunrin).
Her illustrious life and career saw her become the second female President of ICAN and a chief promoter of the Society of Women Accountants in Nigeria (SWAN). She was also the Chairman and first female president of the Institute of Directors (Nigeria), as well as a council member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
Chief (Mrs) Olakunrin served on the Board of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited and on the council of several higher institutions, including the Federal University of Ado-Ekiti and Redeemer’s University.
Her passing will be a big loss to her family and the Body of Christ in Nigeria as she was a beacon of dedication and a trailblazer for women in our society.
